The invention relates to a functional fluid for use in internal combustion engines according to the spark-ignition principle and auto-ignition principle with circulating lubrication, in gearboxes, hydraulic systems, clutches and similar units in vehicles and working machines, consisting of a base oil and additives, the base oil being biodegradable and the additives being non-toxic and not being a hazard to the environment.
