The rifle barrel and breech (10) are coupled to the butt (16), pref. with a check support. The barrel and breech and the butt are coupled in a mutually movable manner. Between the barrel etc. and the butt is fitted a recoil damper (30). The rifle contains a telescopic sight (12, 32) and a trigger, pref. with a trigger guard, as well as a pistol type grip. At least one part of the rifle, which could strike against the user's shoulder and cause damage, is secured on the butt. ADVANTAGE - Comfortable use, increased recoil damping, and prevention of injury, eg by fixed sight eye piece.
