摘要
In modern coal burning power stations around 20 % of the coal burned ends up as residual effluent known generally as flyash and bottom ash. Most if not all of these residuals of up to 1,000,000 tonnes per year per power station are currently being dumped in huge ash ponds around the world, from where they cause very serious air and water pollution problems. The environmental protection authorities around the world have been aware of this immense environmental problem but have tolerated it because there has been no practical alternative. This innovation shows how the existing ash handling part of the power station can be improved to extract very valuable particles for sale inside the power station, by first keeping light weight air polluting flyash separate rather than combining the light weight flyash with the main flyash, secondly dry magnetically treating the main flyash to remove the water polluting trace elements and finally utilising the aeration between as well as within the particles of the residual non magnetic portion of the main flyash by conditioning it with a bonding agent to form aerated concrete.
