摘要
A process for firing a brick involves treating the brick in a flow of hot gases while moving it in a curved path. The flow of hot gases is created by feeding streams of gas in three directions, two of which mutually oppose each other while the third is perpendicular to the first two. The brick is treated while moving on an air cushion. The firing kiln contains a unit (1) for introducing the unfired brick and a thermal treatment chamber (5) designed as a helical tunnel. The tunnel (5) is provided with supply and outlet openings (9 and 12 respectively) for the hot gases. The kiln is provided with a manifold (6) with gas supply apertures (9) and an output unit (3) where the fired brick is discharged. Gas supply apertures (9) are distributed over the bottom (10) and side (11) walls of the tunnel (5). Gas outlet apertures (12) are distributed over the upper wall (13) of the tunnel (5) and linked to the manifold (7) which is connected to the manifold (6) with gas supply apertures (9). The manifold (6) is designed with gas outlet apertures (17). Each of the manifolds (6, 7) is provided with supply apertures (22, 23) for cold gases. The tunnel (5) takes the form of a channel which is rectangular in cross section.
