PURPOSE: To obtain an axial ratio of a circularly polarized wave antenna having excellent economy and a method for measuring an axial ratio pattern. ;CONSTITUTION: An axial ratio measuring apparatus for a circularly polarized wave antenna comprises a linearly polarized wave transmission antenna 1 having a rotator 2 rotating in a plane perpendicular to a main beam direction of the antenna, an antenna 3 installed separately at a suitable distance from the main beam direction of the antenna l and to be measured for a circularly polarized wave to receive a radio wave radiated from the antenna 1, an instrument for measuring reception power of the antenna 3 by a time change of a network analyzer 5, etc., capable of measuring at a single frequency time base, and a controller 10 for controlling the instrument and processing a measured value. The apparatus sorts a maximum value 7 and a minimum value 8 of the received power measured value of the antenna 3 periodically varying upon rotation of the antenna 1, picks a difference between the values 7 and 8, and sets the difference as an axial ratio 9.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
