PURPOSE: To easily decompose a fluorocarbon compd. by an extremely simple equipment to make the same harmless by decomposing an ozone layer, destructing substance, especially, a chlorine-containing fluorocarbon compd. by atmospheric pressure plasma to form hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride and absorbing these acids into water. ;CONSTITUTION: A metal membrane 2 is wound around the outside of a glass cylindrical pipe 1 to be set as one electrode and a metal rod 3 is positioned on the center line of the glass cylindrical pipe 1 to be set as the other electrode and connection terminals 6, 7 are provided to the respective electrodes. Helium, argon or a gaseous mixture of them or a gas compsn. consisting of argon and acetone is introduced into this plasma reaction device and atmospheric pressure glow discharge is generated in the gas atmosphere. A gaseous ozone layer destructing substance, especially, a chlorine-containing fluorocarbon compd. is introduced into the glow discharge and decomposed into hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride by glow discharge plasma and these generated acids are absorbed into water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
