PURPOSE: To produce a steel cord by stranding plural wiry materials with hardly any cord breakage without flawing the wiry materials so much while readily applying stable and desired curls in producing the steel cord having gaps among the wiry materials. ;CONSTITUTION: The method for producing a steel cord 12 is to strand plural wiry materials 11. In this method, spiral curls are applied to the wiry materials 11 while winding at least one of the wiry materials around rotatable reforming pins 2 having a diameter of 15 times or below that of the wiry materials 11 and pulling the wiry material.
