PURPOSE:To enable even an unskilled person to manipulate a warp stretching device in accordance with a kind of the web passing through the warp stretching device without manipulating a control panel while observing a stretched and warped condition of a web. CONSTITUTION:A cutter device 26 comprises a web feed detecting sensor 37 for detecting a stretched condition of a web 12a during warp stretching of the web between a feed-out roller 29 and the cutter device, at the lower surface of a flow plate 25. Multipliers are selected corresponding to several kinds of stretched conditions from a multiplier table generating section, and are multiplied with a reference speed instruction voltage delivered to a control part for a running motor 5 so as to obtain control voltages for a feed-out motor 20 and a warp releasing motor 14, which are then fed to control parts. Further, a stretched condition between the warp releasing roller 14 and the rolls is detected by a dancer roller 47, and a deviation from a warp releasing tension reference voltage is multiplied with the control voltages to the warp releasing motor.
