PURPOSE: To provide a storage stable mesna parenteral soln. for an oxyaxaphosphorine side effect. CONSTITUTION: This storage stable mesna parenteral soln. suppresses decomposition by controlling a mesna (chemical name: 2-mercaptoethane sodium sulfonate) to a pH value higher than 7.5 by addition of an alkaline material. This parenteral soln. contains, for example, by 1 pt.wt. (hereafter pt.) mesna, 0.00002 to 2.0 pts., more particularly 0.0001 to 0.7 pts. complex forming agent Na-EDTA, 0.0002 to 2.0 pts., more particularly 0.004 to 1.4 pts. sodium hydroxide for pH control and 0.001 to 30 pts., more particularly 0.018 to 12.0 pts. benzyl alcohol as a preserving agent. The weight of the mesna in the parenteral soln. ranges from 1 to 54 mg/ml.
