PURPOSE: To obtain a water-soluble thin film for seeding nursery sheets, etc., at a low cost, without losing the shape by coating a solution prepared by dissolving a water-soluble polymer in water and a readily water-soluble solvent, coating the surface of a support with the resultant solution, laminating paper such as water-soluble paper thereto, removing the solvent and then peeling the support. ;CONSTITUTION: A thin film of a water-soluble polymer is formed on the surface of water-soluble or readily water-dispersible paper. In the process, the water-soluble polymer (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol) is dissolved in a mixed solvent prepared by mixing water with a readily water-soluble organic solvent (e.g. isopropyl alcohol) at 1:0.5 mixing ratio. The resultant solution 2 of the water-soluble polymer is applied to the surface of a support (e.g. a polyester film) 1 and water-soluble or readily water-dispersible paper 3 is then laminated to the surface before removing the mixed solvent or after partially removing the mixed solvent. The mixed solvent is removed and the support 1 is subsequently peeled to afford the objective sheet having a water-soluble thin film 4 on the surface of the water-soluble paper useful as seeding nursery sheets, etc., used for seeding and raising seedlings of vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, etc., without impairing the structure and shape of the water-soluble paper 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
