PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial culture soil capable of reducing the concentration injury and loss of volume due to low bacterial decomposability and a small change in the concentration of ammoniac nitrogen with time by fermenting a shredded material of a specific tree and excreta in a mixed state thereof. CONSTITUTION:This culture soil is obtained by mixing a shredded material of a tree selected from a Japanese cedar, a Japanese cypress and Thujopsis dolabrata Sieb. et Lucc, with excreta and fermenting both in a mixed state thereof. A shredded material, etc., composed of tree bark or wood with the tree bark and having 0.5-2mm diameter and 30-50mm length is preferably used as the shredded material of the tree. The fermentation may be carried out by a method for adding a microorganism such as Streptomyces thermophilus or a fertilizer thereto and promoting the fermentation in addition to the natural fermentation.
