Automatic switching device for RS232 computer interfaces - uses electronic box connected to serial or parallel port of computer, links peripheral devices and provides automatic switching under software control
The device consists of a multi-connector extension electronic box (1) and associated software (13). The operation of the extension box is controlled by the software as is the selective transfer of data from a computer. The extension box includes a cable with two connectors on the remote end. One is labelled "COM" (12) and the other "LPT1" (11) to provide connections for, respectively, RS232 and parallel interfaces. The box may be fitted with up to 256 connectors (2-9) for connection of up to 256 serial peripheral devices. ADVANTAGE - Provides for automatic handling of number of devices connected to computer without need for manual switching.
