Overcurrent protection circuit, esp for motor drive circuit semiconductor elements - contains switching device, protection diode and detectors for currents in diode and in switching element
The circuit contains a switching device (Q1,..) with a control electrode and two current electrodes. The device passes current from the first to the second electrode. A protection diode (D1,..) has its anode and cathode connected to the first and second current electrodes respectively. A first detection circuit (T1,..;CT1,...) detects the current flowing in the protection diode and a second detects the current flowing in a switching element. USE - Esp. for use in a driver circuit for a single or three-phase motor to protect semiconductor elements against excessive currents.
