The spectrometric microanalysis technique involves dropping a very small quantity of a solution of a material dissolved in a solvent onto a thin film of water repellant plastic mounted on an infrared reflecting part of a specimen table. The solvent is evaporated to leave the strengthened solvent as the specimen. This is positioned with the specimen table in a spectrometric microanalysis part to be illuminated with infrared radiation. The part of the infrared spectrum reflected by the specimen is measured. ADVANTAGE - Enables high sensitivity analysis of minute specimen quantities.
