Double reflector radar antenna with variable directional characteristic - has movable metal or metallised element within radiation field of main reflector or pivoted edge around main reflector
The antenna has a main reflector (11) with a hollow waveguide opening at its centre for a HF stage at the rear of the main reflector (11), aligned with a sub-reflector (2). The main reflector (11) has a dielectric carrier material which is metallised in its inside face, with a removable metallisation around its edge on the rear side of the main reflector (11) opposite that facing the sub-reflector (2). The main reflector (11) may be made of metal, or a metallised plastics with a metal, or metallised movable element (9) in its radiation field, or with its edge pivoted to fold inwards, for rapid adjustment of the directional characteristic. USE - For satellite communications, weapons guidance system, or navigation system.
