Organic matter soiled ground or masses decontamination for hydrocarbon removal - by mixing soiled ground with fraction from sieve action of coarse grain anaerobic or aerobic composting organic residue, for aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon
The soiled ground material is mixed with organic residue from (an)aerobic composting at 10-40%, using the coarse grain fraction from a sieve action. The sieved material structure is pref. set by grinding etc. before mixing with the soiled material. For the biodegrading of the hazardous matter, tensides are pref. added. The decontamination may be effected in earth clamps or pref. bioreactors. The sieved and the contaminated materials are mixed in a single-stage by alternately piling sieved and contaminated materials. With a bioreactor, it is charged with alternating loads of sieved material and conventional matter. In an earth clamp, the microorganisms have an oxygen supply through suction ventilation over the clamp surface through the soil and, in a bioreactor, through a perforated plate which draws air through the soil. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique is used for ground or masses soiled by aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, polycyclic and halogenated hydrocarbons and cyanides etc. The operation is rapid and uses few materials, to give earth and sand, etc. which may support a natural populationr
