Mobile press for environmentally safe compacting of refrigerators - has sealed crushing chamber and storage vessel to collect HCFC gas released by foam during final compacting stage
The press has a sealed off crushing chamber (5) of rectangular cross-section with a ram piston (6) at one end and a sliding exit door (8) at the other end. In the upper wall of the crushing chamber is a plate (11) with perforations (9) connecting to a distribution chamber (12) with an outlet pipe (13) to atmosphere and a second pipe (14) connecting to a storage vessel (15), the crushing and distribution chambers being separated by the plate. A valve (17) allows escaping air or gas to be switched either to atmosphere or to the storage vessel. ADVANTAGE - Transport costs to central disposal unit and storage costs are greatly reduced.
