Field strength dependent signal evaluating method for car radio - comparing obtained field strength profile with stored field strength profile held in memory to read out associated information
The signal evaluation method uses an A/D converter (4), coupled to the scanner receiver (1) within the radio signal reception circuit (I), providing a field strength signal (FS), fed to an electronic control unit (6) within a microcomputer circuit (II). The electronic control unit (6) also receives a radio data signal (RDS) from a radio data signal programme identification decoder (3) and the actual received frequency (F) provided by a frequency counter (5) to allow identification of each transmitter and the corresponding reception field strength. An actual field strength profile for the reception point is compared with a reference field strength profile, provided by a reference memory (8, 11) via an arithmetic logic (9), to allow the associated information provided by the memory (8, 11) to be fed to an output device (10).
