摘要
Cationic inorganic adsorbent comprises synthetic serpentine 3MgO.2SiO2.2H2O having only a low degree of ordering, made by hydrothermal synthesis at 150-250 deg. C and 0.5-4.0 MPa. USE/ADVANTAGE - The synthetic serpentines made under mild synthesis conditions have a low degree of ordering and are thus completely non-fibrous, so that whilst having the same advantageous adsorption characteristics as chrysotile asbestos they are not carcinogenic. Due to the low degree of ordering the synthetic serpentines also have a high specific surface and are useful as cationic (anion-adsorbing) materials for filtration e.g. in the food and pharmaceutical sectors, e.g. for removing anionic colourants and clouding.
