A protocol converter with freely settable parameters for coupling computers and other equipment with serial interfaces to an Ethernet (RTM) to IEEE 802.3 can receive messages or telegrams via serial interfaces with or without HW-handshakes and can be connected into an IEEE 802.3 LAN. It can also receive messages or telegrams via the LAN and pass them to serial interfaces via protocol converters. The physical parameters and protocol characteristics are adjusted using messages sent over the LAN. USE - Primarily for use in control and process automation.
