The automatic nesting box for hens has an entrance which gives access but prevents exit. There is a shutter (4) on the exit which remains shut while the hen is laying. The egg drops through an opening (2) in the floor (1), and its dead weight activates a lever to open the shutter to allow the hen to get out. The shutter is kept closed by a stirrup (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - Hens which have laid are automatically segregated from those which have not.
