Electrical, optical, communications or power cable for blowing into channel - has radial protrusions on surface, and thin covering sheath applied for smooth movement in channel
The cable (1) has radially protruding elements (2,3) on its surface, between which recesses are formed. A thin sheath layer (4) of constant thickness is arranged over the protruding elements, touching the cable between the elements. The surface of the cable may be bound with threads (2,3) in opposite directions to one another which form the protrusions. The radially protruding elements are pref. of soft elastic material which swells in the presence of moisture. The protruding elements may be bulges in a metal layer (6) of the cable (1). ADVANTAGE - Allows cable to be blown into channel without wound threads catching its inner surface.
