The cutting tool (3,29,36) cuts the tissue in the longitudinal direction of the trocar. A circular shaped cutter (3) is fitted in the conical part of the trocar (1), which can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the trocar axis, and in the rest position the cutter lies completely in the slot (4), and a return spring (11) with non-operation automatically brings the cutter in to its rest position. The circular cutter (3) with its drive forms a unit, which can be moved longitudinally in the trocar, and is driven by a removable motor unit (10). One or more openings (12) end in the distal conical part of the torcar, which lead proximally to a gas supply connection (20), to which a gas flow sensor (60) can be connected for penetrating the abdominal wall. ADVANTAGE - Further jerky type penetration of trocar by force of operator still maintained after piercing of abdominal wall is prevented. Wounding danger existing with still used trocar is lowered by reducing force acting on trocar.
