Method for preserving the mechanical resistance characteristics of achemical paper pulp during a delignification and/or bleaching treatment bymeans of a peroxy-acid wherein the peroxy-acid treatment is carried out inthe presence of a hydrosoluble divalent nickel salt. Application of themethod to the bleaching and delignification of Kraft pulps.
