PURPOSE: To provide the supporting system which can effectively support protocol design at an application level in a computer communication system and can effectively design protocols corresponding to various user requests. ;CONSTITUTION: The protocol specification at the application level is formed, described in a concentional specification model and previously stored in a concentional specification knowledge base 12. On the other hand, a communication function required for realizing protocols is formed as a primitive function specification part (ce part) and previously stored in a ce part knowledge base 13. When the user request is applied, a protocol specification design supporting module 11 extracts the concentional specification model through an interaction with a designer 15, the ce part is selected and allocated and afterwards, with the detailed protocol concentional specification using this ce part, the detailed protocol specification is led out and stored in a detailed specification knowledge base 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
