PURPOSE:To obtain a multiplication inhibitor against dental caries fungus and pathogenic fungus of periodontal diseases, derived from a natural substance, suppressing multiplication of dental caries fungus and pathogenic fungus of periodontal diseases and preventing dental caries by adding the inhibitor to dentifrice, subduing periodontal diseases, having high safety. CONSTITUTION:Pericarp or a paricarp-containing substance of citrus fruit selected from lemon, grapefruit, naval orange, Citrus hassaku hort., satuma mandarin, kumquats, Citrus iyo hort., Citrus natsudaidai, sour orange, etc., is extracted with an organic solvent, preferably methanol, ethanol, chloroform, ethyl acetate to give an extract. The extract, a treated material thereof or a hexane-soluble fraction obtained by extracting the extract with hexane and concentrating the liquid part under reduced pressure is used as an active ingredient to give a multiplication inhibitor against dental caries fungus and pathogenic fungus of periodontal diseases.
