PURPOSE: To minimize the pitching motion of a floating roof, especially of a double deck type floating roof, which happens when a strong wind blows. ;CONSTITUTION: A skirt ring 16 stretching downward is airtightly attached near the circumference and around the whole circumference of the rear face of a floating roof 10 of a floating roof type tank 11. With this constitution, when the floating roof 10 pitches on the surface of liquid 18 filled, the liquid 18 is raised between the rear face of the floating roof 10 on the rising side and the skirt ring 16 and the upward force imposed on the floating roof 10 is reduced by the weight of the liquid 18, causing the pitching motion to be restrained.
