PURPOSE:To facilitate tension adjustment of a roll label, simplify a device and save an installation space by a method wherein only a central part of a lower surface of a roll label is supported rotatably through a facial contact with a vertical rotary shaft and the rest of the lower surface is supported through a partial contact with a horizontal supporting member. CONSTITUTION:A tension adjusting device is constituted of a vertical rotary shaft 4 which supports a central part of a roll label 1 rotatably, a plurality of horizontal supporting rollers 5 extending radially in a state where an upper part of the vertical rotary shaft allows rotation of the shaft 4, and a braking means 6 to brake the vertical rotary shaft 4 by a prescribed volume of force. The vertical rotary shaft 4 supports only the central part of a lower surface of the roll label 1, while a number of free rotary rollers 52 of the horizontal supporting rollers 5 revolve to support the lower surface of the roll label 1. By this, a supplying table is not necessary. Further, as inertia applied on other members is small enough to ignore, tension adjustment of the roll label can be easily obtained only by a braking by the braking means.
