PURPOSE: To ensure the particle size and strength of coke by granulating a fine powdery coke coated with a heavy binder and using the granules as core particles to granulate a pulverized coal of high viscosity and high fluidity. ;CONSTITUTION: A powdery coke 2 which is produced in the secondary dust catcher of equipment for dry quenching of red-hot coke and requires neither classification nor grinding is kneaded with water 10 in a kneader 9 to infiltrate the water into the inner pores of the coke 2 and then kneaded with a heavy binder 3 to coat the surface of the coke 2 with the binder 3. The coated coke 2 is charged into a granulator 13 to granulate for, giving granulating nuclei. A pulverized coal 8 of high viscosity and high fluidity produced in a drying and classifying unit 6 is then charged into the granulator 13 to effect granulation, thus getting a blast furnace feedstock coke. This raw material is mixed with a coal blend in a coal mixer 16, and the mixture is charged into a coke oven 17 to carbonize.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
