PURPOSE: To perform era changing operation for the name of an era in a short time by calculating a Christian Era/Japanese Era conversion constant from a specific calculation expression by using a Christian Era date and a Japanese Era date, and storing it in a backup memory. ;CONSTITUTION: A controller 1 is provided with a display device control part 11 which controls the operation of a CRT display 2, an input device control part 12 which controls the operation of a keyboard 3, a line control part 14 which sends and receives information to and from a host connection device 5, and a state control part 13 which calculates the conversion constant by receiving the information from the line control part 14, and sets and controls the constant in the backup memory 4. Then, the state control part 13 analyzes a station opening request answer telegraphic message from the host device which is received from the line control part 14, calculates the Christian Era/ Japanese Era conversion constant from the Christian Era date and Japanese Era date in the station opening request telegraphic message and the Christian Era date and Japanese Era date in the backup memory 4 with the Christian Era date of a system clock 6.
