PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of an overvoltage after accident removal if an accident occurs to an AC system to which the self commutated converter is connected. CONSTITUTION:An AC deficient voltage relay 17 monitors the voltage of the AC system 1. If the system accident occurs to the AC system 1 and is the AC deficient voltage relay 17, a control system reads the output signal of the AC deficient voltage relay 17 and limits the plus-side limit value Qmax of a reactive power limiter 14 to a proper value which is less than that in normal operation, e.g. zero, thereby setting the range of the reactive power limiter from-Qmax to 0.
