摘要
The linear approximation method is for approximately printing a curve defined by two end points and at least one control point. It involves dividing the curve into a number of sections and joining adjacent sections via straight lines. The number of divisions is determined from the difference between two values corresp. to the sum of the lengths of lines from the end points to a point on the curve and the distance between the end points. The number of divisions is determined from areas (S2,S3) enclosed by straight lines joining the end points and the control point. USE/ADVANTAGE- For use with outline fonts, the linear approximation method can reduce the time required for generation of a font using an optimal number of divisions.
