Interplanetary telephonic communication transceiver using disparate vibratory crystals - has 1-turn reception coil wound on 5-microfarad capacitor with copper@ wiring to resiliently-mounted quartz crystal
The receiver incorporates a disc (1) of e.g. onyx, sapphire or topaz 3 cm in dia. and 0.1 mm thick, supported by 1 cm high Cu helical springs (2) on a Pt sheet (3) centred on a plastic baseplate (4). Under the disc (1), a ring of Hg droplets (6) is recessed into red wax (5). Additional springs secured with pitch to the disc (1) support a paraboloid (7) of quartz within a hollow cylinder of plastic (8). Outside, an Al dish (9) on a plastic pivot (11) is wired via Rochelle salt contacts (14) to the quartz (7). The transmitter lacks the dishes (7,9), coil (12) and capacitor (13).
