A supermarket trolley has an underframe formed from two side members (6) which converge in the forward direction and are connected by a cross-member (10) at their front ends. The basket (14) is mounted on supports (13) attached to the rear ends of the side members. The trolleys are so designed that they can form a compact line with the basket of each trolley fitting inside the basket of the trolley in front. The cross-member (10) has two indentations (25) which serve to attach the front wheels. These indentations also serve to attach a layer of shock absorbing material (18) to form a bumper.
