Appts. for electroplating grooves in a metal body, esp. chrome plating of piston ring grooves has anode part of expanded titanium with active surface coating projecting into groove and electroconductively fixed to a carrier of titanium sheet. - In the claimed application for chrome plating ring grooves in a piston, the anode part projecting into the groove is pref. formed as flanged ring from expanded titanium strip and fixed electrically conducting to a segmental cylindrical carrier of titanium sheet in two (or more) segments. Alternatively the anode parts may be fixed in slots in the carrier with separate connections for the anode current supply.
