PURPOSE:To efficiently capture oil dropping or splashing from a balance mechanism and a needle bar crank mechanism extending over a wide range and to prevent the oil dropping on a material to be sewn by arranging a needle bar supporting a sewing machine needle in the neighborhood of a needle bar supporter to support the needle bar in a direction confronting with the material to be sewn in such a way that it can be reciprocated, and providing an oil receiver to hold dropping lubricant. CONSTITUTION:An edge is provided in the neighborhood of an iron plate 16 extending horizontally in shape to enclose the needle bar supporter 8 with the height of a needle bar fluctuating shaft 8 so as to prevent the oil dropping, which comprises the oil receiver. The oil receiver 17 absorbing the oil spreaded on the upper plane of the iron plate 16 is made of, for example, felt. An iron plate 20 whose periphery is supported by coming in contact with the jaw part 22 of the arm main body of a sewing machine and in the center of which a hole 23 to prevent the needle bar supporter 9 coming in contact when fluctuating is provided in parallel with the lower part of the iron plate 16. In such a way, the iron plate 20 is also comprised as the oil receiver, and the capturing efficiency of the oil can be improved by arranging the iron plate 20 by neighboring to the iron plate 16.
