PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a cell culture base, by adjusting the surface area of a temperature-sensitive polymer compound and culturing cells. ;CONSTITUTION: A cell nonadherent substance 1 is formed on the surface of a temperature-sensitive polymer compound 2 (A) selected from a poly-N substituted acrylamide derivative, etc. to give a culture base (B). The face for cell proliferation of the base B is coated with a mixture of the component A and an adherent/proliferation factor (e.g. gelatin) of cells 3. Then a linear function of the equation, y=ax (x) is the surface area of the component A; (y) is the number of cells of the component C; and (a) is a cell specific constant) is obtained from a relation between the number of cells of a cell massive plate (C) formed by culturing cells 3 to be subjected to a monolayer culture and the surface area of the component A. Then cells are cultured on the base B composed of the component A having X for a fixed (y) by the equation at a temperature of ≥LCST (hydration/dehydration transition temperature) of the component A, the temperature is dropped lower than LCST, the cells 3 proliferated on the surface of the component A are eliminated from the base B to obtain a cell massive formed product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
