PURPOSE:To always satisfy the specification for the output to a load by selecting a plurality of reference waveform patterns stored in a reference generator on the basis of the input voltage of an inverter main circuit and the voltage command value and outputting it to an amplitude modulator. CONSTITUTION:When a frequency command is applied to a clock signal generator 10, a clock pulse which is proportional to the command is generated, and counted by a ring counter 20. The counted content of a counter 20 is outputted to a reference waveform generator 30. When the frequency command is applied to a frequency voltage setter 40, a voltage command is outputted to the generator 30 and an amplitude modulator 50 on the basis of a preselected frequency voltage ratio pattern. Further, an input voltage detector 60 detects the input voltage of an inverter main circuit, and outputs the output to the generator 30. The generator 30 selects the reference waveform in response to the output from a detector 60 and the value of the voltage command and outputs it to the modulator 50.
