PURPOSE: To obtain a chemically surface-modified carbon black which can give a vulcanizable rubber mixture or plastic mixture or the like by reacting a homogeneous mixture of a specified organosilicon compound with carbon black under specified conditions. ;CONSTITUTION: A homogeneous mixture of an organosilicon compound represented by any one of formulas I to III (wherein B is SCN, SH Cl or NH2; R and R1 are each a 1-4C alkyl or phenyl; (n) is 0, 1 or 2; (m) is 0 or 1; X is 2-8; (p) is 0 or 1; Ar is a 6-12C arylene; Alk is a 1-6C divalent hydrocarbon group; Alkyl is a 1-20C monovalent unsaturated hydrocarbon group; and Alkenyl is a 2-20C monovalent unsaturated hydrocarbon group) with carbon black is produced. Next, this mixture is reacted at 50-160°C for 1-60 min in a mixer to obtain a surface-modified carbon black to which the organosilicon compound is bonded in the state incapable of being extracted with an organic solvent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
