摘要
A label for providing books with signatures, reserving details etc. has a base paper with a coating of adhesive on the back; the paper is impervious to plasticisers and the adhesive used is free from plasticiser. Prefd. adhesives are acrylic and acetate. ADVANTAGE - Neither the label nor its written details are damaged by the book cover. The label cannot be removed and stuck into other books. In an example, an adhesive-coated label (2) on a non-stick backing (1) has a main paper layer (3) to take an (e.g.) library marking (4). The other side of the paper (3) has the adhesive which, although readily stripped off its original backing (1), will adhere to the back or cover of the book. The paper mass contains additives to resist plasticisers and also the label has the layer (7) which resists plasticiser. In use the suitable paper sizes are stamped out (but not the non-stick backing) and are given the desired markings etc. by hot embossing. The stripped labels are then hot pressed on to the books, whereby the adhesive softens and adheres when cold. Although the labels can be removed hot they tear in the process and hence cannot be reused.
