Surface contamination measuring appts. using portable detector - combined with distance measurer matched to sensitivity of detector to detect radioactive radiation appearing at land surface
The detector contactlessly measures radiation appearing at a land surface from radioactive substances. The detector (2) is combined with a distance measurer (1) which continuously ascertains the distance between the detector and the surface to be tested contactlessly in a selected direction and using a measuring range matches to the sensitivity characteristic of the detector. A microcomputer and controller (5) sets the detector's measurement value w.r.t. the registered instantaneous distance of the detector w.r.t. earth such that the dosage power, related to a selectable detector-ground-distance, can be continuously corrected and displayed even with varying distances. ADVANTAGE - Automatically sets relationship between instantaneous measurement value and associated detector-surface-distance so that, independently of the instantaneous distance, a value is displayed related to a selected distance.
