In the disposal of combustion residues from waste incineration units, in which the residues are removed from the flue gases in finely divided form esp. by electro-filters, the residues are fed into the melting chamber(s) of a power station boiler plant for incorporation in the slag and are disposed of with the slag and/or are supplied for further use. The residues may be treated in a coal-fired power station or in a melting chamber used to fire the incinerator unit. They may be pre-mixed with the coal dust used for firing in the power station and opt. with electro-filter ash from the power station flue gases. The resulting slag may be granulated for use as a building material. USE/ADVANTAGE - The residues can be disposed of without special waste precautions or even used as a building material, e.g. as concrete aggregate or as a road building material. Use of the prod. opt. mixed with gypsum, for filling underground cavities (esp. of exhausted mines) is specifically claimed.
