The dry gas seal is formed as an axial slide ring seal for a rotating shaft (1) which is guided through a housing wall (12). The shaft bush (3) which rotates with the shaft and acts as a support for a sealing face (6) surrounds the shaft (1) with radial play (4) and is connected to the shaft (1) by a positive centring connection (15,16) which when the shaft extends relative to the bush is elastically resilient but which prevents an extension of the bush in the area of the seal face (6) relative to the shaft (1). The connection between the shaft and bush has a cylinder ring shaped web (15) on one part (1) which engages in a cylinder ring shaped groove (16) on the other part wherein at least part of the connection (17) is resilient in the radial direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - Accurate sealing of the shaft is ensured at all temps. and with all temp. fluctuations.
