On account of the constructive design of the known devices for the aeration and deaeration of shafts, containers, rooms or the like loaded with harmful gases, a desirable mobile use of the devices was impossible. On the one hand, these devices were very heavy and cumbersome and could therefore only be moved laboriously by a single person, and on the other hand the operation of the blower required a permanently installed electrical connection. In contrast to this, the device according to the invention is designed so that the blower (7) can be driven by means of a direct-current motor (8) operable at low voltage. This direct-current motor (8) can be connected to any low-voltage source, for example to a battery or to a cigarette lighter of a motor vehicle. Furthermore, the blower has a suction connection (10) and a delivery connection (9), onto each of which a flexible hose (2) can be selectively slipped. A measuring device (11) measuring the gas concentration of the sucked-up air is arranged between the suction connection (10) and the hose (2). Furthermore, according to the invention, there is provided at least one container (16), into which the hose (2) can be deposited when not in use.
