So as to be capable of positioning the units accurately, the drive motor 9 is a multipole, for example 100-pole, permanent magnet motor with such high resolution that, for accurate positioning of the units, preferably the sign sections 2, it can be made to stop in a suitable number of positions per revolution, for example three positions A, B, C per revolution, and an electric calculating unit 15 is arranged so as to control the excitation voltage to the drive motor 9 by calculating pulses in order in this way to advance the number of pulses that cause the drive motor 9 to drive the units a predetermined distance, preferably to rotate the sign sections 2 a predetermined number of degrees, for example 120, in addition to which the electric calculating unit 15 is arranged so as to cause the drive motor 9 to stop for a predetermined, variable time during which the drive motor 9 is electrically locked.
