The invention relates to a process for reducing the Rücklauflaufverhaeltnisses in the distillative separation of vinyl chloride and 1,2-dichloroethane in the production of vinyl chloride by the 1,2-dichloroethane method. The aim of the invention is to reduce the Rücklaufverhaeltnisses in the separation of vinyl chloride and 1,2-dichloroethane without additional process stage and the same quality of the products. The object is achieved according to the invention by withdrawing from the column in a range of 10 to 30% of its height a product stream which amounts to 0.01 kg to 0.5 kg per 100 kg of the inlet stream.
