PURPOSE:To realize the reduction of dictionary description quantity and the facilitation of the update and the expansion of contents by registering beforehand full spelling link information, abbreviated word link information and bilingual link information as coordinating them with a keyword number. CONSTITUTION:Configuration to register beforehand the keyword 3, the full spelling link information 6, the abbreviated word link information 5 and the bilingual link information 7 as coordinating them with the keyword number 2 is adopted. Accordingly, two-way reference by the full spelling link information 6 and the abbreviated word link information 5 can be executed directly in the same language, and simultaneously, translation using a full spelling word and an abbreviated word can be executed between different languages through one bilingual link information 7. Thus, the capacity of an electronic dictionary 1 can be reduced, and simultaneously, the update and the expansion of the contents can be easily executed.
