PURPOSE:To obtain the subject refractory useful for producing clean steel containing little residual carbon while keeping the strength of construction by adding a silicone resin to a refractory material containing CaO. CONSTITUTION:The objective refractory is produced by compounding 0.5-15 pts.wt. of a silicone resin to 100 pts.wt. of a CaO-containing refractory material such as calcia or magnesia.
