摘要

PURPOSE:To produce the subject compound in good yield by successively reacting m-nitrobenzaldehyde with an aromatic ester of acetoacetic acid, methyl aminocrotonate and N-methyl-N-benzylaminoethanol. CONSTITUTION:m-Benzaldehyde is reacted with an aromatic ester of acetoacetic acid to provide a compound expressed by formula I (Y is halogen, alkyl, nitro or alkoxy), which is then reacted with methyl aminocrotonate to afford a compound expressed by formula II. The resultant compound expressed by formula II is finally reacted with N-methyl-N-benzylaminoethanol to provide 3-methyl 5-(N-methyl-N-benzylamino)ethyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3'-nitrophenyl)-1,4- dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate. Since the reaction is carried out by dividing the process stepwise according to the above-mentioned method, yield is improved.
