PURPOSE:To eliminate dusts and noxious gasses from polluted air in a motorway tunnel by a method wherein a mixture composed of titanium dioxide, active carbon and ferrous metal compound, and a light source emitting a beam in a specified wavelength are provided to the rear stage of an electric dust collector. CONSTITUTION:An electric dust collector 5 composed of an electrified member 5a and a dust-collecting member 5b is installed in the center of a tunnel 2 that is communicated with a driveway space 1a of a motorway tunnel 1 through a suction port 3 and a discharge port 4, and a noxious gas-eliminating device 7 is arranged to the rear stage of the dust collector through a duct 6. Polluted air decontaminated of dusts by operation of the dust-collecting member 5b of the electric dust collector 5 flows between a reaction tube 21 made of a glass with Tio2 powder, active carbon powder and Fe2O3 powder adhered thereto and a light source in 300-400nm wavelength, and thereby the noxious gasses adhere to the reaction tube 21. Thereby polluted air in the motorway tunnel 1 can be decontaminated of the dusts and the noxious gasses including Nox, Sox, CO and others.
